Composer
Don Skoog wrote his first published composition in 1980, and has continued to produce new music ever since. He has written for marimba solo and trio, as well as percussion ensemble, Latin jazz, contemporary song, orchestra, mixed improvisational, and now chamber music with The Dickinson Ensemble. He is currently working on the opera, The War Between the Houses, scheduled for performance in 2027.

- Fascicle #1, a three-movement, multimedia work for The Dickinson Ensemble and women’s vocal ensemble, with midi accompaniment and video. Premiered in July, 2025.
- Three Simple Songs on Three Short Poems, for piano and narrator. Premiered in July, 2025.
- Three Etudes on One Poem, a three-movement work for The Dickinson Ensemble and women’s vocal ensemble. Premiered in April, 2025.
- Emily Sings, an eleven-movement chamber suite for soprano, flute, cello, and piano, performed by The Dickinson Ensemble at the Emily Dickinson International Society Annual Meeting in July, 2024 in July, 2024.
- La Cantilena de las Luces for percussion ensemble, commissioned by Millikin University. Premiered there in 2018. Published by CMP Press.
- Attendance to Ritual, Art Song, and Mozambique, Marimba trio works. Republished in 2023 by Published by Mostly Marimba, Inc..
- Water and Fire, Marimba solo work which won 2nd Prize in the Percussive Arts Society’s 1982 Composition Contest. Published by Mostly Marimba, Inc.
